Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love the opportunity to feel cozy at home while letting my imagination run wild with spooky thoughts, movies, books, and ghost stories. Admittedly, there is potential for Halloween festivities and decor to veer off into a tacky direction, so I made it my mission to use chic tablescape Halloween decor for our festivities.
This post has been updated as of October 19, 2021. Halloween is such a fun event for kids and adults alike! Why not try hosting a dinner, or a boo brunch, with a chic Halloween vibe? Even though our Halloween tradition is pizza for dinner, we will be eating in elegant Halloween style!
Tablescape Halloween Decor from Amazon
The benefit of some of the items needed for a chic tablescape Halloween decor is that you may already have some of the items, for example, a white tablecloth. Other items can be inexpensively purchased, and still look amazing. I found black cloth napkins, black chargers, and black rose and silver napkin rings for very reasonable pricing.
Once the basics were established, it was time to search for additional decor items that could lend Halloween flair to the tablescape. I decided to go all out and purchase several sets of black matte stainless steel flatware. Found them to be of good value and quality, and can see them being used on other tablescapes at some point. We could also use them as a lighter alternative to the heavier everyday flatware we are currently using. I already had black glassware, as well as the skeleton serving tongs. Remember, I do like Halloween! The versions shown here are from Pottery Barn, though I did find some reasonable alternatives.
Items like a black serving bowl, napkin rings, and a spiderweb themed serving platter added a few interesting touches to the table. The spooky lace dinner plates and salad plates are a very popular item and the scalloped plates as shown here have become a bit of a collector’s item. The regular round salad plates can still be found online at the time of this post being published.
Create a Chic Spooky Ambiance with your Halloween Tablescape
The ultimate goal when adding Halloween flair is to keep the ambiance chic and the mood elegant. I found a few pieces that ended up working very well in our kitchen. The first was a wreath made out of black feathers. I purchased two of them so I could hang them on the French doors that go from our kitchen to back patio. I also thought I would roll the dice and order a package of bats that I could hang from our kitchen chandelier. This idea may not be for everyone, though it ended up working really nice for our kitchen, since we have a cathedral ceiling and brick look interior. An overall spooky look I’d say! If your kitchen suits hanging bats, they add a subtle, sleek nod to Halloween.
Don’t forget the candleholders! This set of three doubled as a spooky centerpiece. Imagine the Halloween vibes once the lights are dimmed and candles lit. I’m suggesting flameless candles this year since the table will have numerous children surrounding it. We have bought this set of flameless candles in the past. They have a wax exterior so they look very realistic and there are nine candles in the set. There is also a timer and remote option if you would like to use some of them outside, therefore not having to worry about remembering to turn them off.
The other little touch I really liked were the glass pumpkin shaped drink dispenser and mercury glass pumpkins that have scatter LED lights inside. The pumpkins are available in three different shapes and sizes, so I bought five of them to place around the drink dispenser and give off a warm, orange tinted glow. Very cozy! What I like about the lighted pumpkins and the drink dispenser is that they are fall themed so they each work equally well for Thanksgiving or just fall decorating in general.
Although we won’t be partaking in any huge costume parties this year, which are my ULTIMATE favorite kinds of parties, we are starting a new tradition with our Halloween tablescape. My friends, I’m feeling good about it, and that’s what it’s all about!

I don’t typically decorate for Halloween but I love seeing how creative others get with their decor and in this case a dinner table setup. Love how everything turned out! xoxo, Sarah
Thank you Sarah! I typically don’t do much in the way of Halloween decor either, though this year with trick or treating being canceled in our area due to the pandemic, I wanted to do something special for our kids, that adult tastes would still find appealing. The inspiration for it all xo Jaimie
What a seriously fun and spooky set-up for Halloween! I wish I had a use for this kind of decor – or the space for it haha. My dining table only seats two!
Thanks for your comment Stephanie! I had fun setting it up, and yes, having kids changes things. The need for more room, and also to come up with decor ideas to entertain them. Cheers! xo Jaimie
