Here are 5 Summer Skincare Tips and Habits to Work into your Beauty Routine:

1) Switch Up Your Skincare Products

Lighten up your skincare routine and makeup by using a gentler cleanser, and consider using a tinted moisturizer or just concealer on needed areas instead of a full coverage foundation. I absolutely love Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer . I love it all the time, though find for summer months this is all the coverage I need. It has broad spectrum SPF 20, which I usually layer over top of a first layer of sunscreen, and comes in a range of tints for all skin tones. During the winter, I wear shade No. 2, though when I have more of a tan, I bump up to the No.3. All Beautycounter products are made with the safest ingredients, and they are truly is the leader in clean beauty products. There are several products in the Beautycounter line that I continuously turn to for myself and my family. I love several of Beautycounter’s products so much that I became a consultant so I could continuously have access to their products, and always be informed about what’s new with beauty regulations within the industry. If you would like to try any of their products, you can order through links as you would any other product. There shouldn’t be a reason why I need to contact you. If you do have questions, I’m always happy to connect, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Concealer is also something that can work as a stand alone if you are looking to lighten up your makeup routine. The cult classic Tarte Shape Tape Concealer comes in 30 colors, has lighter coverage, extra hydration, and tape technology to “lift” and blur fine lines and imperfections.

A lighter cleanser is a must for summertime, as skin can get irritated due to sun exposure. Vanicream is a simple cleanser that I always have in my shower. It’s fragrance, gluten, and sulfate free. It’s also free of other ingredients such as dyes, fragrance, masking fragrance, lanolin, parabens, formaldehyde, and other preservatives

2) Exfoliate your Skin

Smooth, glistening skin often needs a helping hand. This is where exfoliation comes in. Exfoliating is extra important during the summer because arms and legs are on display. Generally heavier sunscreen products are used on the body, which can sometimes cause clogged pores. I like to use exfoliating gloves and find that my body has a natural sheen after sloughing the dead skin away! With these gloves, you can even use your regular body wash, as the gloves themselves do all the heavy lifting. For healthy skin, we use Jason’s Natural Body Wash and Shower Gel in Purifying Tea Tree. Not only is it free of parabens, sulphates, petroleum and phthalates, tea tree is a natural disinfectant, and it helps clear acne. From time to time I might get a breakout on my back or shoulders, though when I am loyal to the Jason’s Body Wash, there is never a breakout to be found.

3) Use A Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C serums are one of my favorite products, and I like to use them year round. The summer is a particularly good time to use a Vitamin C serum as pigmentation and sun damage can wreak havoc with skin. Vitamin C assists in repairing sun damage, while also helping to fade sunspots caused by sun exposure. Ole Henricksen Truth Serum is my go-to in this category, and I keep coming back to this product because it really does work. It has a clean citrusy scent, and is infused with collagen, helping to firm skin as well as even skin tone.

4) Protect your Skin in Summer

Wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen on your face everyday is the number one summer skincare habit to not only have healthy, younger looking skin, it’s also the number one way to reduce your risk of skin cancer. I’ve loved Olay’s Regenerist Whip SPF 25 for years. It’s got an SPF 25, which is the magic number for me when it comes to a facial sunscreen. Anything less, not enough sun protection, anything more, there tends to be a chalky look. This tried and true favorite is a light, breathable face moisturizer that leaves a matte finish, and works best for normal, oily and combination skin.  It’s also got innovative Active Rush Technology that holds and releases 1000x its weight in hydration. It also contains Vitamin B3 and peptides into the skin to improve skin elasticity and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

5) Hydrate your Skin in Summer

During the summer temperatures are elevated, there are more social activities that sometimes involve drinking alcoholic beverages, and people are traveling. These are all activities that can cause dehydration, so it’s important to drink enough water. I invested in this beautiful 32 ounce Hydroflask. It’s made of food grade stainless steel so it doesn’t leach harmful chemicals, and is dishwasher safe. It comes in a range of sizes and colors and goes with me everywhere.
