Summer trends this year are pretty simple. Scroll down to see them all!
It could be due to the fact we are still partially shut down as a country and that we have become used to living in joggers and other classic comfies. Either way, it’s the best of both worlds as 2020 summer trends are easy to wear, yet still fun. Kind of the way summer should be.
7 Summer Trends to Try this Season:
1) T-Shirt Dresses
I’m going to be living in t-shirt dresses this summer. Crew neck, v-neck. all of them! Some of them have rolled sleeves, though either way, the comfy, classic favorite gets updated into a dress. Neutral shades are best for a more sophisticated look. Also doubles as a bathing suit coverup!
2) Long Denim Shorts
Take a pair of straight leg jeans and cut them off a few inches above the knee. This is the trendy new length for denim shorts, and may have derived from the longer, more formally structured knee length shorts we saw last fall and winter. Make sure they have a looser fit, so no cropping skinny jeans. And leave the hem raw, not rolled.
3) Denim Dresses
Denim dresses come in a range of styles, though what is unique about them now is the fabric technologies that make them so easy to wear. Not stiff, yet lightweight and breathable. These two shirt dresses taught me about the amazingly soft fabrics Tencell and Lyocell. I love these dresses so much I even wrote a blog post on them, head over to learn more about these denim shirt dresses.
4) Printed Vacation Shirts & Matching Sets
Not quite your Dad’s vacation shirt, these shirts can have themed patterns or bright tropical prints. Double points for top and bottom pieces that are a matched set.
5) Frilly White Blouses
White blouses with detail are a major trend for summer. And who wouldn’t want to bounce around in a pretty white top during the summer? Eyelet lace is the first word that comes to mind, though a variety of other features may also exist on the same top, like embroidery and sheer paneling. So pretty!
6) Puff Sleeves
The puff sleeve trend is still going strong on tops and dresses. There are so many varieties of puff sleeves. Organza, lace, linen, cotton, any and all fabrics are being structured into puff sleeves.
7) Chunky Sandals
If you’re going to invest in a trendy pair of shoes this summer, make them chunky! Many of the chunky sandals have a slight athletic look to them, or a Teva’s sandals feel. Birkenstocks in unexpected colors are an easy and affordable way to wear the chunky sandal trend.
